There have been a multitude of tests, both in the lab and in real-life usage, which attest to the efficacy of woven polypropylene bags over paper.

In-the-Field Testing

Organizations which transport lighter goods such as dog food, seeds, and fertilizer experience essentially zero bag breakage during shipping. A year-long test in India for cement bags resulted in a bag breakage rate of 0.04%.


Lab Testing

The following test took place with bags being held at various aspects and dropped on a concrete floor. The right axis is the height of the drop in meters with the graph bars indicating the height at which no bags broke. It should be noted that when a polypropylene bag broke, it was usually along a seam, while the paper bags were often destroyed.
